Churchill's Warning About Islam: "No stronger retrograde force in the world."

With many today seeking to justify Islam under a cloak of tolerance, its good to read the words of Sir Winston Churchill in 1899. He had no political ax to grind and you can’t say he was on the left or the right. He saw what he saw, and he understood what he understood.

In our century, Churchill’s words have surfaced again. In May, 2013, an elected official of the Missouri House of Representatives, Rick Stream, publicized Churchill’s words in an email to his colleagues. He was roundly criticized in the press for doing so.

A few weeks later when a British soldier was hacked to death by Muslims on the streets of London, Churchill’s words came into focus in a column by Cal Thomas in the Winston-Salem Journal.

A year later Paul Weston, chairman of a British conservative political party, read Churchill’s words to a crowd on the steps of a hall in Hampshire, England. The police arrested him and later apologized.

Hundreds of years ago, the great sage Maimonides, forecast that in the end of days, those who follow the prophets of other religions will come to see that “their ancestors endowed them with a false heritage; their prophets and ancestors caused them to err.” This is happening today. There are many courageous Muslims who are protesting the teachings of Islam and some have renounced the religion altogether. Also the Noahide movement is growing, comprised of those who follow the 7 Noahide Laws given to Moses at Mt. Sinai for the nations of the world.

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die: but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.
